As you all know applications have just closed for our first round of Trail Fund NZ grants. It seems harsh asking hard working trail builders to spend time filling out forms and chasing landowners for letters of support etc. but it’s part of making sure your donated money goes to high quality projects.
So with that in mind here’s something for the trail builders that doesn’t require any extra effort on their part. But you’re all going to have to help instead.
Peter Burke from those nice folks at Burkes Cycles has donated a Dakine trail building backpack for us to give away to some hard working trail volunteer. These backpacks are both awesome and pretty hard to come by these days in NZ (since Billabong bought the company), oh and it is a worth a few $$ too. It’s an awesome donation from Burkes and we appreciate the help they are doing to support Trail Fund NZ.
So here’s what we need. Email us (trailfund@gmail.com) a paragraph or so waxing lyrical about a volunteer trail builder who’s done a lot for trails in New Zealand and who you think deserves this. They can be from anywhere in NZ and you can self nominate if you’re one of those trail pixies who goes presence goes largely unnoticed.
And in addition to the winning trail builder getting themselves a very cool backpack we will give the person writing the nice words one of these Trail Fund NZ t-shirts to say thanks. And yes if you self nominate and win you get both. We’re good like that.
So what are you waiting for, get in there! Flick us your tales of trail builder awesomeness by 5pm Friday (the 19th of April) and we will get this bag out to some deserving volunteer.
