This is our Level 1 course.
Trail Leader is targeted at people covering the basics of trail building
Course Material
The course covers:
- Planning work parties including H&S planning.
- Communicating what you want to build and advice for marking out
- Giving safety briefings
- Organising large crews
- Complex trail building techniques including berms, insloped turns and retaining (both with natural materials and timber).
- Tips and advice on applying for funding.
Course length is a 2.5-3 hours and will take part out on the trails so please bring sturdy footwear, suitable layers of clothing and hard wearing gloves if you have them.
The course is part theory and discussion, part trail building and concludes with a test.
Course Location : New Plymouth
We are running this course along side the Specialized Dig Day as part of the Trail Fund Conference.. The Trail Crew course will be run in the same location as the dig day and we will join the other diggers at the finish of the course for a BBQ.
